Those trips offer the chance of seeing dolphins and porpoises. Around Mynydd Cilan and Porth Neigwl there is a good chance of seeing bird life including chough, and dolphins are sometimes seen.

St Tudwal's Islands had a 6th-century hermitage. The St Tudwal's lighthouse was built in 1877, automated in 1922 and converted to solar power in 1995.

Good to know

  • St Tudwal's Islands are home to grey seals, razorbills, guillemots and chough.
  • Porth Ceiriad has folded, tilted rock strata visible from the beach, and is reached from the Wales Coast Path near Bwlchtocyn.
  • Porth Ceiriad is National Trust land, south-facing and very sheltered. On big swell days it is not for beginners.
  • In a coastal emergency, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
  • Abersoch Land and Sea also offer charter and a Jet Ski Safari.
  • Behind the Porth Neigwl beach are grassy dunes which form a notable sea-marsh, and the area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
